  • Four years of on-the-job HR experience, with two of the four being related to global HR experience, with anything less than a Bachelor’s degree

Applying for and Paying for GPHR Certification

There are only two HR certification exams a year, so they fill up quickly and it’s important to apply as soon as possible. Applications are generally accepted from five to two months up until the date of the exam, and late applicants may be accepted as soon as a month up to the exam, although a seventy-five dollar fee will be issued in this case. Applications can be completed online at the Human Resources Certification Institutes website. The cost of the GPHR Certification exam itself is $425, but depending on your method of preparation, total costs can vary.

GPHR Certification Exam Preperation

GPHR exam preparation can be done in multiple ways. Online and traditional Universities offer prep courses for the exam. There are also websites that provide physical, and online preparation materials for the exam.

The GPHR exam is broken into five sections:

  • Strategic Business Management 26%
  • Global Talent Acquisition and Mobility 22%
  • Global Compensation and Benefits 18%
  • Organizational Effectiveness and Talent Development 22%
  • Workforce Relations and Risk Management at 12%

While the knowledge covered in the exam will have most likely been reviewed at some point in your career or education, it’s very difficult, and no aspect is missed. Preparation is mandatory, in order to ensure you will pass the exam.

The GPHR Certification Exam: What to Expect During the Test

When taking the exam, you are allowed three hours to complete all of the questions. The exam consists of 165 multiple-choice questions, regarding the five areas mentioned previously. The exam is costly and difficult, but you will be fully refunded if you don’t pass.
